Copyrights /----------------------------------------------------------------------------\ |*****************************1. Introduction********************************| \----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ "What's this? A beta FAQ?! Get the torches!" No, wait! Hear me out first! A while back, a man named Dave Campbell got permission to create a 2 1/2D(that means 2D gameplay in a 3D-looking world) prequel to Jumpman(a multi-platform hit). Doing so, he created multiple beta versions of the game, including the one I am FAQing here. I have several reasons for doing this, the most prominent is the fact of the challenge. You have seven Jumpmen...period. Extra lives and scoring are not in the game yet. Because of this, it made some of the levels difficult or even impossible to reach, much less surpass. Thus, with his Dave's permission, I am creating this FAQ/Walkthrough to aid other testers and players in reaching those final stages. "So where do I find this beta?" As of the writing of this FAQ, you should be able to find it at : http://www.jumpmanzero.com There are versions for both the PC and the Palm Pilot there, but this FAQ is based ONLY on the PC version. "Is there anything I can do to help?" Sure. Download a copy yourself and let him know of any bugs. I'm sure he'd appreciate it!...Half sarcasm there. But still, you get a fun game out of it! /----------------------------------------------------------------------------\ |******************************2. Objectives*********************************| \----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ Rather simple, actually. Just collect all of those red bombs lying about in each level(those are the red circles/donuts). Of course, if it were just that easy, why would I write a FAQ/Walkthrough about it?...$15 penalty to the person who said 'to hear yourself talk'. Each level has its own tricks, traps and other annoyances designed to frustrate...err, "challenge" the player. Oh, and just to push this a little, you CAN beat every level without dying. Tough feat, but it can be done...No, I haven't accomplished that! :-/ /----------------------------------------------------------------------------\ |******************************3. General Tips*******************************| \----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ (0) - As I just said, you don't need to lose a life to beat any of the stages. However, there are many bombs in precarious positions. It may be best to grab them last... (0) - You can grab bombs while you are dying. So not always does being shot on your last life mean Game Over. Combine this tip with the last one to help you reach some of the trickier bombs. (0) - Adding on to that last tip, Jumpman usually falls straight down when hit in this game. Keep that in mind when positioning yourself for a fall. (0) - Jumpman has a new ability...he can roll! Not only does he move faster while rolling and is a smaller target, but also he can fall from a much higher height when doing so. Start the roll in mid-air if it looks like he won't make it. It may give you the safety you need. /----------------------------------------------------------------------------\ |**********************4. Beginner Levels Walkthrough************************| \----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ *** Level 1 : Easy Does It *** Difficulty : 1/10 Unique Trap : None This is technically a carbon copy of level 1 from the first game. Only real difference is that there are two Smart Darts(homing bullets) instead of the original's one. Still, use the casual attitude of the level to practice using Jumpman's moves, especially the roll. Work from the bottom-down or vice versa to clear this level easy...does it!(gets whomped) *** Level 2 : Followers *** Difficulty : 3/10 Unique Trap : Sheep As Pursuers(how many can say they put THAT in a FAQ?;)) A bit tougher, but this can be beaten quickly regardless. Start by grabbing the bomb directly to your right and heading down the ladder and to the left. Now, those sheep should be following. Lure them to the ladder or at least down in your direction. If they follow by taking the rightmost of the two ladders, follow the sheep on their path and head for the lower-right corner of your current "box". When the sheep get close, leap straight up and grab the bomb as well as pulling yourself to safety. Get the next bomb directly above you, then snag the bomb between the two ladders. Run for the upper-left corner and grab the bombs up there. Move fast enough and trek to the lower-right corner. Clear it in the same fashion. Finally, slip past them once more and go to the upper- right corner...level's pretty much over here. *** Level 3 : Disorderly *** Difficulty : 1/10 Unique Trap : Tetris Pieces Zzzz...Oh, sorry. Seriously, it's a very easy level. Just touch a piece to make it drop into the box on the bottom of the level. The setup is random each time, so I can't give you an exact solution. However, there's only one Smart Dart and no timer or other dangers. Once you have all the pieces in the box with no part of them sticking out of the outline, snag the bomb to complete the level. Oh yes...forgot to mention something. If you grab the bomb without all of the pieces perfectly in the box, it will reset the stage. Do that a second time and you'll get a completely new puzzle. Lucky you... *** Level 4 : Hot. Hot. Hot. *** Difficulty : 2/10 Unique Trap : Lava It's not as bad as you think. Throughout the level are several purple holes which will turn red just before they release a stream of lava along the ground. First rule is that lava does NOT travel uphill. Second is that it never flows on the ladders. Third, it never cross over gaps(but you CAN cross the tiny gaps without dying). Last, you are FASTER than the lava flow. Using this knowledge, it should be easy to find a safe spot or four. Just be patient and clear the level floor by floor, right to left then left to right. *** Level 5 : Flash Flood *** Difficulty : 3/10 Unique Trap : Water + Clocks That water gets on my nerves, but it's simple(especially if you roll instead of walking everywhere). Touch that water and Jumpman bites it instantly. BUT, if you grab the clocks scattered throughout the stage, the water sinks down for the duration of the timer in the lower-left corner of the screen. Moment time runs out, the water fills back up to its starting position. However, the clocks have a cumulative effect and will push the timer even farther back if you grab multiple clocks. Of course, it takes a moment for a clock to reappear after you snag one. Got that all? Good. Now, begin by grabbing the bomb to the right then the clock to the left. Run for the upper-right platform and snag the bombs on the way. Wait for the timer to run out, then grab the clock to your left. Roll towards your starting point and grab the first clock. Head down the rope below you and snag the clock and bomb there. Head down the next rope, grab another clock and leap for the ladder to the right. Jump back and forth between the ladder and the rope to the right to grab the two bombs. Climb up and head for the route the upper-right platform again. Wait again for the timer, and repeat the path you just took. When you reach the ladder, climb up and head right. Collect the clock at the right-center "side" of the level, then collect all of the bombs nearby...this could take more than one trip. After that's clear, head for the upper-right corner once more. Grab those four popular clocks again, but head straight down instead of jumping for the ladder. Grab every bomb along the bottom without stopping...Level cleared! *** Level 6 : The Hive *** Difficulty : 4/10 Unique Trap : Bees Now we're getting a bit trickier. Remember Vampire? Well, in case you don't, every couple of bombs you grab will cause an angry bee to appear. These bees move slowly, but will lazily track your position. One bee will appear after each of the following "bomb number pickups" : 1st, 4th, 10th and 15th(for a total of four mad insects). My best suggestion is to climb to the top of the level and collect your first bomb up there. From that, work your way down floor by floor. The bees' movements and tracking methods vary a bit from game to game. Sorry, but you are on your own from here. *** Level 7 : Downside Up *** Difficulty : 4/10 Unique Trap : Level Flips This can get a tad annoying. Every time you grab a pair of arrows, the level flips upside-down(or vice versa). To make matters a little more lethal, there are FOUR Smart Darts in the stage. For this level to be a bit more bearable, keep the following two tips in mind. One, the Smart Darts vanish every time you grab some arrows. Use it to get them off you for a moment. Two, NEVER grab arrows while walking instead of jumping unless there is a platform just above your head! Should you do so, Jumpman will most likely plummet to his death when the level flips over. Start off by collecting the three bombs on your starting platform. Ignore the arrows to your left and jump back and forth between the two ropes on the far right. Once on top of the platform, collect all of the bombs on that "floor". Once cleared, grab the arrows up there by jumping to the left from the center platform. After the flip, jump left off the "hill" and grab the ladder. Climb up and snag those few bombs you had to miss earlier. With that, the top...err, bottom half...Oh, WHATEVER!...should be clear. Work your way back down without collecting any more arrows and clear the "now" lower-right section as best you can. To finish, head along the "bottom" to the lower-left corner. You should see another set of arrows. Grab 'em by walking into them and wait for the level flip. After that, the remainder of the bombs should be easy...aside from the Smart Darts, naturally.:) *** Level 8 : Tree Huggers *** Difficulty : 3/10 Unique Trap : Monkeys Truthfully, this isn't as tough as it seems. The trick is just knowing which route to take. Start by clearing the bombs you first see. Work your way to the right and clear of a couple of "safe" bombs(those in easy reach). From there, head back to the left and work your way counter-clock wise around the level. The main problem for you here is timing...which, suffice to say, I cannot provide in a Walkthrough. Oh yes...you can hand-cross on those horizontal vines and the monkeys won't, giving you a few safe spots. You can even leap straight up on them without falling off! *** Level 9 : Final Battle *** Difficulty : 7/10 Unique Trap : Alienators Definite difficulty here, but it is the final battle. Those green blobs are the Alienators, deadly on contact. Otherwise, they seem pretty harmless... Start by climbing around and collecting the nine bombs in the area(doesn't matter what order). After you collect nine, another one will appear in one of their places. Also, a UFO containing an advanced version of the alienators will appear. Collect the bomb and notice how it hits him and seems to cause damage. Another one will appear, so collect and "launch" that one as well. Now he's angry and will activate three moving and rotating laser beams! You can't outrun them(even by rolling), but you can dodge them. Now, since the pattern of appearing bombs is random, I can't help you there. However, the safest way to travel to each bomb is to climb up to the top and travel until you are near the next bomb. It's much easier to dodge the beams up there than anywhere else! After you collect a total of 18 bombs(the nine original plus the nine you threw), the UFO will stop shooting...and crash below the level! Nice work! ************************* *Beginner Levels Cleared* ************************* /----------------------------------------------------------------------------\ |********************5. Intermediate Levels Walkthrough**********************| \----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ *** Level 10 : Solid Ground *** Difficulty : 4/10 Unique Trap : Vanishing Floors Really, it's not THAT hard. It's just timing and knowing the right order. The main problem is that the moment you step on most(no, not all) of the platforms, they will turn red and vanish a second later. Fortunately, they reappear just as quickly and the ladders and ropes never vanish. Start by running/jumping(rolling will make you miss a couple of bombs) to the lower-right corner. Grab the bomb there and leap for the ladder. Climb up on the right side, collect the bombs on the way up and leap for the rope on the RIGHT side. Immediately leap back off and to the left. Collect the first two bombs on the left, then leap back for the rope. As you reach near the bottom of the rope, leap and roll left until you land, then climb down the ladder nearby. Continuously leap left until you collect the two bombs, then dart back left. From just to the left of the rope directly above, leap to the left to land on that tiny platform below the ladder. If you misjudged the distance, just roll to correct it. From there, climb up and snag all of the bombs BELOW the top floor, outside of the bomb to the left of the extremely short ladder. Go back to the right and leap up the rope to the top floor just as you did earlier. Leap across the top floor until you come to the upper-left corner. >From there, walk across and collect the bomb up there, then stand directly above the bomb I told you to skip. When the floor vanishes, you'll fall right on top of it! *** Level 11 : No Rush *** Difficulty : 2/10 Unique Trap : Turtles This level's one of my favorites. In order to collect all the bombs, you have to leap around or on top of the various turtles moving around the level. When you land on one, you can hold the left or right directional key to continue jumping in those directions. If you release all of the keys instead, you'll just jump straight up instead. Also, if landed on one while rolling, you'll come out of it when you bounce off. Start by collecting the bomb above and heading for the lower-right corner, and from there up the ladder and back to the left. To get the bomb on the "island platform" against the left edge, wait for the turtles above it to move to the right. Then, leap on the turtle on the island. You'll likely be sent through the ceiling, so climb back down and grab the bomb before the turtle recovers. Grab the bombs to the right and up. To reach the second half of the level, bounce off one of the turtles while below the left half of the platform(make sure to avoid the turtle above). Climb up the ladder and head right to the only platform up here without a turtle, using "roll bounces" to clear the turtles in your path. Carefully collect the bombs towards the upper-left corner, then head back and get the bomb in the upper right. Climb down the rope straight onto the turtle...you'll bounce straight up and get the last bomb. *** Level 12 : Clockwork *** Difficulty : 3/10 Unique Trap : Moving Platforms Ah, a timing puzzle. This is just a warm-up, however... Start by climbing to the top of the ladder nearby. Wait until you see the larger of the two circling platforms on the OUTER section of the ring appear. Leap for it and hoist yourself up. Ride it around and collect all of the bombs you can without leaping off. Once clear, leap to the platform up and to the left of the ring. Grab the bomb there, then get back on one of the platforms and roll to the platform in the lower-left. Get that bomb, then leap onto the moving platform ring once more. This time, leap onto one of the center moving platforms. Again, ride the larger one around and collect all you can. The center bomb is a little tricky, but the easiest way to collect it is to leap from the left of it and land on the other moving platform. From there, make your way to the vertically moving platform on the right and leap from its peak to the platform on the right. Climb the ladder, then time the jump to the horizontally moving platform to your right, collecting the bomb nearby on your leap. Now, the next two bombs CAN be collected first. However, they are tough to nab without losing one of your precious lives. I suggest you leave them be for now and just jump to the next moving platform on the left. From there, jump up to the next platform above and collect the bomb there while riding. Time your next jump to the platform on the right and grab another bomb, then leap to the rope and climb down.. All that should be left are the two bombs I told you to skip. If not, go back and get the others and return to this spot. Otherwise, jump over to the second horizontally moving platform. Wait until it is all the way to the right, then leap off it in that direction, performing a roll as you approach the second of the set...That's it! *** Level 13 : ...Now You Don't *** Difficulty : 7/10 Unique Trap : Objects that alternate between visible and invisible. This one's nasty. All the bombs begin invisible, but as you collect them the level shifts its several parts to vanish from sight...sometimes EVERYTHING is invisible. Plus, there are two Smart Darts here to really ruin your day. There is no real pattern here, sadly, as it is just as hard any way you take. The only suggestion I have is for you to wander around the level as best you can to commit as much of it as you can to memory...Good luck! Oh yeah, nearly forgot...Should you die in this stage, the entire level is reset to completely visible. *** Level 14 : The Great White North *** Difficulty : 1/10 Unique Trap : Penguins I guess this is the "breath-catcher" level, consider the last stage and the next two. Start by heading left and collecting all of the bombs in the lower- left AWAY from the penguins. Stand on the lower-left platform on the right edge and wait for a penguin to pass over-head, then leap straight up. Collect all of the bombs on this bottom platform while hurrying to the right. *** Level 15 : La Garra *** Difficulty : 7/10 Unique Trap : Snakes + Crane Argh, those snakes are nasty! If those jumping snakes weren't bad enough, that crane will aid in restocking the level with bombs! First, head directly up and collecting the bombs along the way. Then, run across the across the top to the right. Should any snake corner you, wait about one snake's "width" distance from it until it jumps, then run under it. Once at the right edge, climb down to the bottom floor and collect the bombs there, then collect those on the center floor. If the level doesn't end, quickly look around for any bombs you have missed. If the crane is too fast for you to keep up, kill yourself on purpose. The level will reset and the crane will have to bring the snakes back, giving you time to collect the bombs before it begins restocking them again. One other fact : Should the crane be holding a bomb while you collect the otherwise last bomb, you'll have to wait and collect the bomb the crane is carrying...it's forced. *** Level 16 : The Gauntlet *** Difficulty : 9/10 Unique Trap : ...A LOT OF TRAPS! This has to be the hardest level in the game thus far...maybe the hardest of all! Start by nabbing the bomb to your right. Climb up the ladder until Jumpman is just below the first spinning blade. The moment it passes overhead climb up without stopping. To collect the next two bombs, jump towards the center of the platform and immediately roll to avoid getting chopped. Stand on the right edge of the platform and leap to the right...you'll JUST make it! Watch the blade below and time it to climb down the rope safely. Another timed dash will get you past the pendulums. Climb up through your starting platform and make your way back to the top of the rope. Now, climb partially up until the blade is just overhead like the first ladder. The moment it passes over, climb up slightly, then leap to your right, touch the rope and IMMEDIATELY jump back to the left. The moment you touch the ladder, climb up! Another pendulum dodge and you'll reach a set of conveyor belts(up the ladder). The three belts(platforms) will move you to the right, left and right in that order. Use jumps for straight up only so you won't be thrown off and the level will be cleared. *** Level 17 : Big Game *** Difficulty : 3/10 Unique Trap : Dinosaurs Compared to the previous stages, this one is relatively tame. The T-Rex will walk back and forth along the bottom of the stage until you are within short range. Then it will lean down and growl for a second, followed shortly by it charging in your direction and double its normal speed. Needless, to say, this is easy to spot. The Triceratops above moves just like the T-Rex, but without the charging or growling. Above that, there's a Pterodactyl flying around in a slow zigzag pattern. Truthfully, this level can be completed in any order, but it's easiest to complete it from the T-Rex's chamber, Triceratops area, then Pterodactyl's...err, "aerie". The dinosaurs move slow enough that they are really not that much of a threat(except slightly more with the Ptero). Just focus and you'll be fine. *** Level 18 : Final Battle *** Difficulty : 6/10 Unique Trap : Alienators Deja vu? Dave Campbell said he planned to change the layout and create three separate versions for this stage. For now, however, they are exact duplicates of one another. As such, simply scroll up and read the "Final Battle" level walkthrough for the Beginner levels. It's the same thing. ***************************** *Intermediate Levels Cleared* ***************************** /----------------------------------------------------------------------------\ |**********************6. Advanced Levels Walkthrough************************| \----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ *** Level 19 : Flicker *** Difficulty : 5/10 Unique Trap : Ghost + Darkness Who ya gonna call?!...Jumpman, that's who. The entire level is shrouded in darkness, with only a small area around Jumpman visible. There's also a ghost who floats around the level, semi-lazily homing in on Jumpman's position(like the bees from level 6, but much tighter tracking abilities and a bit faster). Finally, you are forced into grabbing the bombs in a specific order! Begin by climbing up the ladder to your right and immediately roll to the left. The ghost should just miss you. Wait for a second for the ghost, then go down the ladder and leap for the rope. Immediately jump off the rope to the right and grab the bomb. The wall to your right should slide open. Run through and climb down the tiny rope onto the ramps. On the second ramp, jump left and grab the second bomb, then roll right without hesitation...you have only milliseconds before the ghost catches you here! Run to the left along the bottom, climb up the ladder and head down the rope. Head right from there to another ladder. Climb it and jump right at the top. You're back at your starting point now. Climb up both ladders and run left along the top to the upper-left corner. Drop down the rope and quickly get the bomb out of that small room(you're ghost-bait if you stop!). Jump up and head back for the ramps. Once down them, snag the last bomb and get out of that spook joint! *** Level 20 : When It Rains... *** Difficulty : 5/10 Unique Trap : Rain + Water This level is similar to Flash Flood from the Beginner set. First, clear the top section by jumping between the ropes...like Tree Huggers...Hmm. Since the droplets fall at random, I can't help you much there. Once cleared, head for the ladder on either side. The moment the water begins to recede, climb down and run for the rope(yes, ignore the bombs for now). Slide down it and collect the two bombs in the corner. You can either jump from the slope and grab both in a single jump, or you can grab the one at the edge and jump back towards the rope to collect the second. To climb back up, just jump up the center ropes(easiest route up). From there, it's easy! *** Level 21 : Fyodor *** Difficulty : 6/10 Unique Trap : Grizzly Bear(assumably Fyodor) Smokey this guy ain't! Jump to the right collecting the two bombs to the left of the ladder in the process. Collect the other three by leaping to the right again. As the bear comes down, stand on the right edge of the platform. As he nears the start of the "slope", jump to the left over him! Climb the two ladders nearest and wait on the left edge of that platform. As Fyodor approaches, jump(do NOT roll) and grab the rope. Climb partially down, then roll to the right off of it. Notice the bear is dazed(don't STAND there noticing, though!)? That's the key to beating the stage. Collect all the bombs on the current floor, then lure the bear towards your area and collect the bombs on the floor above. Use the rope all the way on the left again, but this time collect the bombs in the lower-right corner while the stars dance around his head. Should he corner you here, jump onto the rope then back towards the ladder. This should not be performed often unless you have EXTREME control over Jumpman's actions! Moving on, climb up the three ladders leading from where you are(on the right side).Play around on the pair of ropes above until Fyodor decides to take a flying leap off those as well. Quickly secure the two bombs on that floor, then do whatever it takes to finish the top floor, which, admittedly, won't be much more. *** Level 22 : Infestation *** Difficulty : 7/10 Unique Trap : Moving bombs that reproduce. This gets an extra point due to the Smart Dart meant to make your life even more miserable. The easiest way to deal with this stage is to clear the first two "floors" by rolling through all of the bombs. After that, clear the highest floor again by rolling through everything(see a pattern?). From there, the bombs' movement and reproduction patterns are random...you'll have to hunt them down on your own. Good luck! *** Level 23 : High Strung *** Difficulty : 9/10 Unique Trap : Restricting Bungee Cable Four Smart Darts PLUS a restriction on your dodging capabilities are really going to ruin your day here! Start by grabbing the bomb to your left and note that your cable is slightly longer now. Jump onto the rope and back off to the left and collect that bomb. Climb down that same rope now and move to the left as far as you can go, then leap left and collect the bomb to the side of your starting area. Climb the ladder next to you halfway, then leap to the right. Start to climb down the rope into your starting area, but leap off to the right to collect the bomb(plus, pull yourself back up). Head left and leap on and off the rope towards the left to snag another bomb hanging in mid-air. Now head down the rope back to your starting area, but make sure you jump and roll off of it! Otherwise, Jumpman will simply fall to his death. >From there, climb down the other rope and head left. Collect the bomb underneath the ladder on the far left, then trek back to the ladder at the bottom of the stage. Climb down it and leap to the right to collect yet another bomb(sick yet?). Climb back up the ladder and jump to the right off the edge of the platform to nab ANOTHER bomb! Head to the left edge and collect the bomb just above the lower-left corner. Head up to above the ladder on top of your starting area. Go to the rope, climb down and get that bomb. Jump off the rope and back out, then move to the spot under your starting area once more. Go to the right and collect the bomb in the bottom corner. Climb back to the top and get the bomb in the upper-left corner. Make your way back to the starting area again, but this time leap to the right from there. Climb the ladder on the right edge, and leap left to get one more bomb. Leap twice to the right to get back on the ladder and make your way to the lower-left corner. The last bomb awaits you there... *** Level 24 : A Difficult Assignment *** Difficulty : 7/10 Unique Trap : Robots + Delayed Bomb Disarming Trust me...This Mission is far from Impossible;)! Here's the gist of it : All the bombs in this level are colored gray to indicate they are a bit more...complicated. As long as you stand in front of one, a bar marked "Disarming..." will appear and begin to decrease. When it empties, the bomb is collected and you can move on without leaving a bomb behind for later. Also, the level is filled with beam-shooting robots(who are also deadly on contact). The beams length is about four to five bombs size across(rough estimate). They don't jump from platform to platform nor do they climb ladders, so use that to your advantage in dodging them. The colors also indicate their firing patterns : Green bots shoot their beams every two to three seconds, Purple bots fire the moment you are on the same level and in front of them(at any distance), and the Blue bot will charge towards you when it sees you, then fires the moment you are in range! All right...Begin by disarming the bomb above you. When the green robot moves to the right, disarm the bomb on the left side of its platform. After that, leap the bot and disarm the one to its right. Climb part of the way up the ladder and wait for the purple robot to head to the right. Climb up and disarm the bomb on the left side of that platform. After that, climb back down and wait until it just passes overhead to the right. Quickly ascend and follow it! Jump onto the ladder on the right side the moment you have a chance. When it passes underneath, collect the bomb on that side of the platform. Head up and ready yourself for the second test. Disarm the two bombs on the center platform while playing dodge with the green robot. Once clear, jump to the next platform when the green robot on the left is heading left. Otherwise, you'll be fried. Collect the bomb on his platform and climb up once more. Treat the next purple robot in a similar fashion to the first one and you should be able to disarm the bombs easily. The blue robot up top is particularly annoying. Wait near the top of the ladder until the robot turns to the left and heads in that direction. Immediately climb up and "tail" the bot as closely as you can. The moment to touch the bomb on the left, watch the robot closely. As soon as it stops and starts to turn, roll to the right without hesitation! After you reach the ladder again, climb down and wait to repeat the pattern. It should take about four to six passes until you finally disarm that bomb and are able to finish this stage. *** Level 25 : Donkey Frog *** Difficulty : 5/10 Unique Trap : Giant Saw-Blade Spitting Frog(Yes, I am serious) Remember Donkey Kong? Same concept here...In fact, it's the same layout as the first level in that game. Start by jumping off that oil barrel and slowly climbing your way up. If you see more than three blades rolling in a line, go backwards until they split up as you can't jump that many at once! If you need a minor safe spot, stand just to the far side of any ladder leading up. The blades coming down will miss you and the blades that go over you are easily dodged. Just look for openings and keep going up. *** Level 26 : Jump The Shark *** Difficulty : 6/10 Unique Trap : Shark Wow...I guess enough water levels convinced Jumpman that he had to learn how to swim! In either case, that shark down there is the real(and only) threat in this stage. The moment the shark moves away from under you, roll into the water and use the directional keys to move about and collect the bombs. To dodge the shark, watch for when he charges you. He always zigzags, trying to home in on you. Swim straight up or down, then suddenly switch off to the opposite direction when the shark is close, then just as quickly the same direction you started in. The shark should JUST miss you. That's really all there is to this level. The high difficulty comes from getting the timing down, as it takes a bit of practice to master. *** Level 27 : Final Battle *** Difficulty : 6/10 Unique Trap : Alienators Once again, this is a duplicate of the "Final Battle" stage from the Beginner set. Read the walkthrough there if you are having problems. *************************** *Advanced levels completed* *************************** /----------------------------------------------------------------------------\ |******************************7. FAQ History********************************| \----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ Yeah, I'm actually doing one of these. I'll list the dates from least to most recent updates. Okay then? Let's begin : 07/30/03, Version 0.23 : Initial version of Jumpman Zero FAQ/Walkthrough. Only levels 1-6 have an actual walkthrough and the rest are in a vague listing. I'm not even sure at this moment if they are in the right order and I'm positive I don't have the right level numbers. Guess that's what updates are for! 08/02/03, Version 0.39 : Found out there was a Beta Version 6 while I was using Version 5(Thanks, Dave Campbell, for pointing this one out). As such, I've had to correct a few walkthroughs as the timing/enemies have altered slightly(Sheep in Followers, Bee release in The Hive, etc.). I now have the entire Beginner levels covered, plus the first level for both the Intermediate and Advanced sets. I also actually have the correct names(for both the levels and one of the staff...Oops!), again thanks to Dave Campbell for pointing them out. Lastly, I'm thankful for getting this version out...Last one said I finished it on the "7th", rather than the right date(30th). 08/09/03, Version 1 : The complete FAQ at last! All level walkthroughs are now finished. Of course, if you are reading this, then you already know that! /----------------------------------------------------------------------------\ |********************************8. Credits**********************************| \----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ I would like to thank the following(so far) for inspiring this FAQ : * Randy Glover and EPYX, for such a great original game. * Dave Campbell, for making such a great prequel(and the subject of this FAQ). Also, for providing the correct level names and aiding me in completing Level 22, "Infestation"(among other tid-bits along the way). * Andrew Doss, because of the music(I live off game music). * The Jumpman Lounge, which pointed me to Jumpman Zero. /----------------------------------------------------------------------------\ |******************************9. Copyrights*********************************| \----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ The FAQ is now finished, but that doesn't mean you have the complete rights to it by just downloading it. If I say okay or I sent it to you, then obviously you have a right to put it on your website. Otherwise, contact me directly first. I'll likely say yes anyway, but I don't like being surprised by my FAQ on my first visit to a new site. If you want the legalese, here's the exact wording : "This may be not be reproduced under any circumstances except for personal, private use. It may not be placed on any web site or otherwise distributed publicly without advance written permission. Use of this guide on any other web site or as a part of any public display is strictly prohibited, and a violation of copyright." Now that that's settled, sit back and go back to playing the game...I'm off to other missions! This document was last updated on August 9th, 2003 by Cobra1.
